I recently blogged about Big Baby Davis starting to walk.  Well, we figured that a walking boy probably needs to start wearing some shoes every once in a while.

Up until now, when we would take him out in public, everyone would always ask, “Where’s that boy’s shoes?”  I guess it’s kind of redneck to take him out and about without shoes on, but we didn’t really see why it mattered if he wasn’t walking anyway.

While we were waiting on our car to get an oil change and a tire patch, we strolled through the mall and happened upon a shoe store.

You should have seen Davis sitting there like such a big boy, trying on different pairs of shoes.  Actually, you can…

Oh my gosh!  It’s so neat and so sad at the same time!

After shoe shopping and an hour-long sports discussion between Kurt and his cousin, I dragged my boys home to pack and get on the road.

We made our way back to our hometown for a little family time.

Tonight, for the first time in I don’t know how long, I’ll be running on a treadmill.  Wish me luck.  I’ll let you know how it went with tomorrow’s post.

I tried to think of a really clever title for this post;  one that would capture the spirit of my message.  After thinking about it for a few minutes, the only thing I could come up with was “WOW”!  Profound, huh?

Today was a gorgeous day in the Carolinas!  I just got back from an 8-miler and it was the best run I’ve had in quite some time.  There were people outside walking their dogs.  There were tons of runners.  And, for the first time in what seems like years, I got several whiffs of hamburgers being cooked on the grill!  I know today was merely a Spring teaser, but I enjoyed it anyway.

I was, however, a little tempted to skip my run.  After having a GIRLS NIGHT OUT, and coming in really late, all I really wanted to do was crash on the couch all day.  But, the beautiful weather pulled me outside like metal to a magnet!

While we were out last night, we met a guy I promised to include in today’s post.

George A.K.A. "Big Daddy" with the girls!

He was sportin’ a fine medal from a race he ran yesterday.  Go ahead “Big Daddy”!

say cheese…

Not a lot of variety, I know.  We were having so much fun that I forgot to take anything but group pictures! 🙂

Coming off a rough week at work, it was hard to get up for my run this morning.  Kurtis made me feel guilty enough to peel myself out of my cocoon.  He gently reminded me that I committed to being a mentor for Fleet Feet’s Next Steps program and not going would be pretty messed up.  So, I hopped up (or something like that), threw on my clothes, made some COFFEE, and headed out to brave the 20 degree temps!

How happy am I right now?

By the time I got to the meeting spot, the coffee kicked in and I was ready to move out!

Thanks for the guilt trip babes.  I need it every once in a while!

If you missed my rant last night, get your click on!

I wanted to put a quick little post on here tonight to thank the ladies at Run Like A Mother for adding my link to their blog.  I hope everyone will click-through to their site and take a quick look.  They have a really fun blog that is both informative and interactive.

Also, they host a ton of contests that give their readers a chance to win some really cool running gear.

As a matter of fact, they started a new contest today!

I like running.  You know…in the traditional sense of the word.  I must be getting old though, because I had no idea about “Free Running”.  Apparently, it’s pretty popular (hence, the vast number of videos posted on YouTube).  I would say that it’s not so much running; it’s more like “a very creative way to rack up hospital bills”.  Watch the video and you’ll see what I mean.  If you watch the whole thing, you will be entertained.  I promise!
